On Prabhupada – Bhajana Kutir #117
6:47 A.M.
In Vrndavana, Prabhupada took the devotees on parikrama. In each place, he told the pastimes of Krishna in a very animated way, and the devotees were delighted.
Yesterday I heard a lecture Prabhupada gave in Vrndavana on October 21, 1972. He repeated the point that religiosity means to get out of the threefold miseries of life. He said that money has its use, and that we are using it in the Krishna consciousness movement. We are getting money, but we are not using it in sense gratification. In America, you can’t beg for money. But we have published books, and we’re selling them, so Krishna gives us money. But all the money collected is not for sense gratification. For sense gratification, we can’t get more than we are destined to get. Personally, you can’t improve, but in Krishna consciousness, you can improve. Our love for Krishna is covered by the modes of nature. Krishna consciousness is discovering our original spiritual life by hearing. Gradually the dirty things are removed. So long as we have this body, we have to eat, sleep, mate, and defend. Kama is allowed when it is not used against religious principles. Sex is allowed for raising children in marriage. But don’t forget the aim of life, which is understanding the absolute truth. There is sufficient concession for sense gratification, but human life is meant for inquiring about the absolute truth.
The question, “Who am I?,” is the beginning of inquiry. If I don’t inquire about myself, I shall consider that Krishna is like me. They think like this because they don’t know the self. Everyone is working for their senses, but that is not the aim of life. We need to know God and our relationship with God or we’ll go back in the species of life and miss the chance of human life.
Krishna is present in His words. Bhagavad-gita is the words of Krishna. In krsna-katha, you are talking directly with Krishna.
There is no scarcity of anything except Krishna consciousness in the world. It is simply propaganda that there is not enough food. Food is provided, but on account of demons, the food is restricted. At the end of Kali Yuga, there will be no wheat or sugar, etc. It is not that you have to work very hard. Rsabhadeva said the human life is not meant for working hard like the hogs for sense gratification. The Supreme Lord is the supreme One, and He is supplying for everyone. If you simply know Krishna in truth, all your problems are solved, especially the repetition of birth and death, and that is the main problem.
